On Saturday, former Alabama running back Kenyan Drake signed a one year, $8.4 million dollar tender deal with the Arizona Cardinals.

On Monday,Drake was tendered, which meant that Drake had the freedom to negotiate a long term contract with other teams, but ultimately, Arizona would have the right of refusal.

Both Drake and the Cardinals can negotiate a long-term deal through July 15. It’s worth nothing that he would be entitled to a 20 percent raise if tagged again next year, which would be end up being around $10.08 million.

Last season, Drake was traded from the Miami Dolphins to the Cardinals in late October. In his first game with the Cardinals, Kenyan rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown, as well as recording four receptions for 52 yards.

In his 8 games with the Cardinals this season, Drake racked up 643 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, as well as 172 receiving yards for a total of 814 total yards.

With the impact he had last season, and with the returning and new talent joining the Cardinals, we may be about to witness Drake’s best season yet.
