Kentucky softball team swept by Gators after Sunday loss

Kentucky softball was swept by the Florida Gators over the weekend

The Kentucky Wildcats softball team has struggled with SEC opponents this season, and that trend continued over the weekend. They lost all three games to LSU a few weeks ago, and on Sunday, they lost to Florida, completing the sweep there too.

The Gators jumped out early, with two runs in the first inning, then three more in the second. Kentucky scored a single run in the sixth inning, but that was all they could muster and they lost 7 – 1.

The Wildcats managed just four hits on the day, Vanessa Nesby had one of the hits and the only RBI for the team.

Skylar Wallace and Jocelyn Erickson each had three RBIs for Florida. Keagan Rothrock pitched a complete game one-hitter.

Kentucky is now 20 – 11 on the season and 0 – 6 in SEC play. They’ll head back home for a game with Dayton on Tuesday at 6:00 PM. Then they’ll host the Alabama Crimson Tide over the weekend where they’ll look to improve their poor conference record.
