Kentucky pitcher Travis Smith has entered the transfer portal

Pitcher Travis Smith will transfer from Kentucky baseball for 2025 season.

Kentucky baseball had its spectacular season ended by the Florida Gators at the College World Series. Inevitably, as the season ends, players start to make decisions about their futures. One of the Wildcats pitchers, Travis Smith, has elected to transfer.

In his first season with Kentucky, Smith started 13 games and had 4.84 ERA, which made him a lock to start 2024 in the rotation. This season, though, after six starts, he was replaced and moved to the bullpen. For the year, he had a 6.38 ERA.

Smith has eligibility remaining, but many believe he could choose to head to the pros. He is considered a good prospect, as high as the top 100 by some. If not, there will be plenty of programs looking to add him.

The Wildcats rotation is certain to look different in 2025, with Smith transferring and Trey Pooser moving on. Fans will be interested to see how it plays out.
