Kentucky basketball gets commitment from 2022 recruit Collin Chandler

Former top 40 recruit Collin Chandler will transfer from BYU to Kentucky.

Kentucky Wildcats basketball fans have had to watch as player after player either transferred out of the program, or decommitted. Finally, Big Blue Nation gets some positive player movement news as Collin Chandler, a former top 40 recruit, has chosen to come to Kentucky.

Chandler was a four-star recruit in the 2022 recruiting class. A 6’4″ shooting guard with great range, he originally committed to BYU. After completing his two-year mission, he was set to play for the Cougars this year.

With the coaching change, Chandler decommitted from BYU, and on Tuesday, chose to follow Mark Pope to Kentucky. He is the first addition to the roster this off-season, after losing several players.

In a statement to 247sports, Chandler said this:

Growing up, my biggest dream was to play against the best players in the world. I am beyond grateful to be given the opportunity to do just that. Through the past couple of days, the path I had before envisioned has been blurred. After talking with my family and many prayers, this vision has become clearer than ever. I am humbled to get the opportunity to continue this journey at the University of Kentucky! Go Wildcats!

Pope still has a lot of work to do, and more players will inevitably transfer in, but Chandler is a terrific star.
