Kentucky basketball assistant Cody Fueger says the Wildcats will score

Kentucky basketball assistant Cody Fueger says the Wildcats will shoot 35 three-pointers a game.

There have been a lot of changes for the Kentucky basketball team this offseason, including a whole new roster. One thing that won’t change, however, is the offense’s goal of scoring a lot of points. According to assistant coach Cody Fueger, they’ll do that, at least in part, by shooting a lot of three-pointers.

Last year’s Kentucky team was elite offensively, and it made for a fun brand of basketball for fans. BYU, under Mark Pope, was no slouch, though. They were in the top 25 in the country in points per game at over 82. Three pointers were a big part of that offense too, as they attempted 32 per game.

According to Fueger, the Wildcats would like to attempt 35 threes per game this season. He told Kentucky Sports Radio:

Offensively, we’re trying to get up 35 threes a game and if you turn down an open shot, you’re coming to sit on the bench.

That statement was likely music to the ears of Koby Brea, who was one of the best three-point shooters in the country last season. Pope brought in several guys who are capable shooters from deep outside of Brea as well.

The Kentucky offense, if everything goes as planned, will be a potent one. They have shooters, and Mark Pope knows how to game-plan. There’s no way to tell how how the season will turn out, but if Cody Fueger is right, it’s going to be fun watching.
