Kentucky baseball shut out by South Carolina Gamecocks in series finale

Kentucky baseball falls 10 – 0 to South Carolina Gamecocks on Sunday.

After climbing all the way into the Top 25 in the rankings, Kentucky baseball has had a tough couple of weeks. Last weekend, they lost two out of three to another top five team in the Tennessee Volunteers. This weekend, it happened again, and they took another series loss to the South Carolina Gamecocks when the fell in the finale 10 – 0.

South Carolina got it started in the third, jumping out to a two run lead. They added another in the fourth, but it was the fifth inning that ended Kentucky’s day. The Gamecocks scored six runs, then another in the sixth to end the game via the run rule.

The Wildcats had just five hits on the day, two of them from Mitchell Daly. Mason Moore struggled on the mound, giving up nine runs in 4-plus innings.

Kentucky is now 33 – 9 on the season and 16 – 5 in the SEC. Another conference series is up next, with the ranked Arkansas Razorbacks coming to Lexington. Game one is Friday evening at 6:30 PM ET, and can be seen on SEC Network+.
