Kentucky baseball makes a big comeback to beat Morehead State

Kentucky baseball made an impressive comeback to beat Morehead State on Tuesday.

The Kentucky Wildcats baseball team began their season with an opening series sweep of USC Upstate. The pitching was solid throughout the three games, and the hitting was very good. After a few days off, they had a single game against Morehead State before heading to Texas for a series of games.

The Wildcats were expected to handle the Eagles, but the in-state rivals weren’t going down easily. Morehead St jumped out to a 5 – 1 lead, and Kentucky’s bats hadn’t gotten going. However, in the eighth inning, the Cats warmed up.

It began with a single from Emilien Pitre. Eli Small followed with another. After a couple of walks and a hit batter, Mitchell Daly added another hit before Ryan Nicholson doubled in three runs to put Kentucky ahead by a score of 9 – 5, which would be the final score.

The Kentucky pitching was solid once again. They gave up just three earned runs on the day, and closed out the game with three shutout innings.

The Wildcats will next be in action over the weekend at the Karbach Round Rock Classic in Round Rock, Texas. First up will be Washingon State on Friday.
