The Kent State Golden Flashes (0-3) visit the Penn State Nittnay Lions (2-0) Saturday. Kickoff from Beaver Stadium is set for 3:30 p.m. ET (Big Ten Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Kent State vs. Penn State odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Kent State was pummeled 71-0 by the No. 7 Tennessee Volunteers Saturday while failing to cover as a 49.5-point underdog. The Golden Flashes threw for just 58 yards en route to totaling just 112 total yards of offense in the embarrassing loss. Kent State allowed 740 yards.

Penn State, the No. 8 team in the US LBM Coaches Poll, enters after escaping with a 34-27 win over the Bowling Green Falcons Saturday while failing to cover as a 34-point favorite. The Nittany Lions rallied from a 17-7 deficit to avoid a massive upset. RB Nick Singleton scored 2 crucial TDs in the 2nd half for Penn State.

Kent State at Penn State picks and predictions

Prediction

Penn State 51, Kent State 7

Moneyline

PASS.

Even if there was a moneyline posted, I would advise passing. The Nittany Lions will be far too heavy favorites to risk betting on, so bet on the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

LEAN KENT STATE +48.5 (-110).

Penn State allowed a bad Bowling Green team to stay in the game and put up a fight that led to only a 7-point win, so I am not banking on the Nittany Lions to cover here as such a heavy favorite.

Penn State is obviously the much better team and has the capability to beat the Golden Flashes by 50 points, but I’m betting they won’t.

Over/Under

BET OVER 55.5 (-115).

The Over has hit in 2 of Kent State’s 3 games to start the season and is 7-3 dating back to last season for the Golden Flashes. For Penn State, the Over hit in its last outing.

The Nittany Lions have an offense that can put up at least 30 points whenever they want, and their tough outing against Bowling Green proves that this defense may not be as stout as we are accustomed to seeing. Therefore, the Over appears a safe bet here.
