Kenny Pickett’s surgery to return could be for nothing

Kenny Pickett continues to work his way back from ankle surgery.

When Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett suffered his high ankle sprain, he opted for a tightrope procedure to help facilitate a faster recovery. It’s not an ideal course of action and allowing an injury like this to heal on its own is often preferred.

But Pickett went for it for whatever reason and now all of that could be for nothing. Pickett continues to recover and may not play on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks. If the Steelers lose on Sunday, there is a real possibility they will be eliminated from the playoffs or at minimum see their odds fall significantly.

If this happens, Pittsburgh could end up in a Week 18 game with nothing to play for against a tough Baltimore team that might be battling for the No. 1 seed. Is that a game you want to have Pickett return for? The whole process to try and rush him back to help the team might be for nothing.
