Kemba Walker participates in full practice for first time since All-Star break

Kemba Walker is hopeful about returning to the court against the Brooklyn Nets after participating in full at the Boston Celtics practice.

Boston Celtics point guard Kemba Walker practiced in full Monday for the first time since the All-Star break, according to the Celtics website.

Walker has missed the last five games due to knee soreness.

It is possible Walker returns Tuesday against the Brooklyn Nets in limited minutes, the Celtics announced Monday.

Boston has won three of the five games without Walker since the All-Star break, and the two losses were very tight: a two-point loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Feb. 23 and a one-point overtime loss to the Houston Rockets on Saturday.

Overall, the Celtics are 9-4 without Walker this season.

Walker’s knee swelled during the All-Star break and he had it drained and injected with Synvisc in February, according to Boston Sports Jounral.

Walker has had three surgeries on the knee since 2015, according to BSJ, though his 13 missed games this year is already more than the last four years combined.

The last time he saw action on the court was the All-Star game, during which he played 29 minutes. Walker initially said he played through a minutes restriction in the game, but later said he misspoke and that it wasn’t a minutes restriction, just more than he expected to play.

The ninth-year guard is averaging 21.8 points, 5.0 assists and 4.1 rebounds per game and shooting 38.8% from behind the arc.
