The USC Trojans turned the keys to the kingdom over to true freshman quarterback Kedon Slovis last year, and he responded with an excellent season.
In 12 games, Slovis completed 282 passes for 3,502 yards and an outstanding 30-to-9 touchdown-to-interception ratio.
His 71.9% completion rate was among the best marks in USC history, and his performance has landed him among the NCAA’s most exciting young quarterbacks – and a potential Heisman Trophy candidate for the next two years.
Slovis was excellent all throughout the season in 2019, but the fine folks over at Pro Football Focus were able to identify that a lot of his success came in the second half of games.
In fact, among Power-5 quarterbacks who are returning, Slovis received the highest overall grade in the second half, at a whopping 90.2.
That bested Justin Fields of Ohio State, Sam Howell at North Carolina and Peyton Ramsey from Indiana.

The high grade in the second half is of course a testament to Slovis’ overall ability as a quarterback, but credit should go to coach Clay Helton and offensive coordinator Graham Harrell, who clearly showed an ability to make adjustments that helped their team find success when they needed it most.
