There were a lot of negative rumors and storylines about Kayvon Thibodeaux entering the NFL combine, particularly when it came to his work ethic and his buy-in at the next level.

Thibodeaux did a great job of looking past those storylines and letting his performance on the field do the talking.

It certainly spoke with some volume. Thibodeaux ended the day with impressive stats in two of the most notable categories, leading all edge defenders with 27 reps on the bench press, and he finished 6th in his position in the 40-yard-dash, running a 4.58. For comparison, Michigan”s Aidan Hutchinson, who is also in the conversation to be a top overall draft pick, ran an 11th-best 4.74.

After all was said and done, Thibodeaux said that he wasn’t completely satisfied with this performance, and thought that he could have done a little bit better.

“He wasn’t totally pleased with it,” NFL Network’s Stacey Dale said on air. “He thought it was OK on average for him. He had a good split, he said. Just didn’t finish as well as he wanted to on the back end. So he wasn’t necessarily pleased overall with the day, but again with the D-line working now, he wants to work both linebacker and D-line drills and do it all on his Pro Day.”

We will see Thibodeaux do more later this spring at Oregon’s pro day, where NFL media members will descend on Eugene to get another glimpse at the potential top-5 pick in April’s draft.
