After an impressive first season under head coach Brian Daboll that saw them finish with a record of 9-7-1 before picking up a playoff victory, you’d think the New York Giants would get a little respect.
That hasn’t been the case.
Despite clearly being on the upswing, many Vegas sportsbooks and media talking heads expect a regression from the Giants in 2023. Their over/under win total has been set at 7.5 and outlets like Pro Football Focus see them going under.
That’s perfectly fine with second-year edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux. In fact, he’s happy to see all of the doubt.
“I mean, it’s been good for me. I like to lay low,” Thibodeaux said on NFL Network’s Good Morning Football. “I’m happy that people are counting us out, because that gives us more time to just work.
“We don’t have to answer those questions, we don’t have to worry about everybody looking at us. We can just keep our heads down and grind. And I think you know, we love being the underdogs, cause that always gives us that story, that momentum to really work and really go after what we want.”
Traditionally, the Giants have been at their best when they’re underdogs. And given their incredibly difficult schedule this coming season, they’re going to find themselves as underdogs quite often.
