The Kansas City Royals (48-43) and Colorado Rockies (32-57) conclude their 3-game series Sunday. First pitch from Coors Field is slated for 3:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Royals vs. Rockies odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Rockies lead 2-0, winning 4-2 Friday and 3-1 Saturday

Royals RHP Seth Lugo suffered his 3rd loss of the season, despite allowing just 2 ER (3 total) on Saturday. The Royals gave him little support, producing just 1 run on 8 hits — a solo shot from 1B Vinnie Pasquantino.

The Rockies look for their 1st series sweep since May 12-15 vs. the San Diego Padres. LHP Austin Gomer looked great Saturday holding the Royals to 1 ER in 7 IP (6H, 0 BB, 3 K). CF Brenton Doyle parked a 2-run HR and 3B Ryan McMahon went 3-for-3 with a RBI.

Royals at Rockies projected starters

RHP Brady Singer vs. RHP Tanner Gordon

Singer (4-5, 3.05 ERA) makes his 18th start. He has a 1.18 WHIP, 2.8 BB/9 and 8.5 K/9 in 94 1/3 IP.

  • Last start: Loss, 5 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 3 BB, 4 K in 5-1 home loss against Tampa Bay Rays Tuesday
  • 2024 road splits: 0-2, 3.63 ERA (34 2/3 IP, 14 ER), 1.47 WHIP, 7.8 K/9 in 7 starts
  • Only start vs. Rockies: Win, 5 2/3 IP, 0 ER, 5 H, 0 BB, 7 K in 2-0 home victory June 4, 2023

Gordon, 26, makes his Major League debut on Sunday.

  • Called up from Triple-A Albuquerque on July 6
  • Triple A stats: 2-3, 5.35 ERA in 7 starts. He had a 1.46 WHIP, 2.2 BB/9, 3.6 K/9 in 33 2/3 IP
  • Is 30-31 with 4.63 ERA in 5 minor league seasons

Royals at Rockies picks and predictions

Prediction

Royals 6, Rockies 4

Moneyline.

PASS.

The Royals (-162) will not get swept on Sunday against a pitcher making his MLB debut. As confident as I am, I’ll avoid betting more than 1 1/2 units on Kansas City and save my wager for the run line.

Run line/Against the spread

BET ROYALS -1.5 (-110).

Kansas City has only been swept once all season and I do not believe it’ll happen against a team that’s 25 games under .500. This is a perfect opportunity for the Royals to break out of their mini slump (lost 4 of their last 5) against a mediocre minor league pitcher making his MLB debut.

The Rockies are 10-22 in day games, batting .225 under the sunshine. They are also 13-17 in intraleague play on the season.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 10.5 (-122).

I love this Under despite there being a young pitcher making his debut on Sunday afternoon. The Under has hit in the last 4 KC-Colorado matchups,  including both games in this series. The Royals and Rockies are both are 1-5 against the Over in their last 6. All the trends are pointing to an Under.
