Kansas City Chiefs to sign wide receiver Josh Gordon

Kansas City Chiefs signing Josh Gordon

The rich get richer … on offense, at least.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reported Monday the Kansas City Chiefs are signing wide receiver Josh Gordon.

The oft-suspended Gordon was recently reinstated by the NFL.

The Chiefs are off to a 1-2 start, having lost close decisions in their last two games, to the Baltimore Ravens and Los Angeles Chargers.

Gordon was suspended indefinitely in December 2019 for violations of the league’s policies on substance abuse and performance-enhancing substances. That was Gordon’s sixth suspension since the 2013 season and his fifth for some form of substance abuse, according to ESPN Stats & Information.

On Sunday, the Seattle Times reported the Seahawks were interested in bringing Gordon back to the team.

GM John Schneider said the team has “always had a great relationship with Josh” and added “obviously he’s someone who is right here in Seattle. When things get taken care of officially we’d like to get rolling with him.”

Gordon has 247 receptions in his on-and-off NFL career. He played with Seattle, Cleveland, and New England.

He has 4,252 receiving yards and 20 TDs.

He played in the Fan Controlled Football League in its inaugural season earlier this year.
