Kamren Fabiculanan is the key to Washington’s success in the secondary

The Washington Huskies will need a high level of play from safety Kamren Fabiculanen to anchor the secondary in 2024.

One of the biggest revelations of 2023 was the play of safety Kamren Fabiculanan, who stepped into a bigger role and delivered with 26 tackles, 3 for a loss, 2 interceptions, and 4 pass breakups.

He missed 3 games due to an injury but also made four starts during Washington’s run to the national championship. After Asa Turner transferred to Florida and Dominique Hampton departed for the NFL draft, Fabiculanan will be asked to assume a full-time starting role as one of four returning Huskies who made starts during the 2023 season.

Working with safeties coach Vinnie Sunseri should help bring out the most in the 6-foot-1, 196-pound senior, as Sunseri played the position at Alabama and in the NFL. Along with defensive coordinator Steve Belichick’s scheme, which will ask him to assume a multitude of roles in the secondary, he could thrive and emerge as a leader as coach Jedd Fisch rebuilds his team.

The Huskies could have one of the better secondaries in the Big Ten in 2024 and a high-level of play from the backend will start with veteran leadership. Fabiculanan should be asked to call out alignments like Turner did in 2023 and will be a vital piece in run support as well as over the top.

When spring practice comes around in April, fans should keep a close eye on all the different things that Fabiculanan will be asked to do by Washington’s new coaching staff.
