If the New York Giants leaked trade rumors to send a message to wide receiver Kadarius Toney, it worked.
After skipping the start of the offseason workout program and avoiding East Rutherford during voluntary minicamp, Toney has finally decided to show up. And that’s good news since he had fallen way behind on Brian Daboll’s new playbook.
Our fried Bobby Skinner from Talkin’ Giants was the first to report the news. It was later confirmed by The Athletic’s Dan Duggan.
Said it on the pod today, but Kadarius Toney is and has been in NY/NJ since Saturday and in the Giants facility.

"Scoop" Skinner. A source confirmed that Toney is in attendance for today's voluntary workout. Nothing like some trade rumors to get a player to hop on a flight… https://t.co/O2g5M2bCJG

Toney’s arrival comes only after trade speculation began to run wild in recent days. Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News initially reported that the Giants were shopping Toney, which was later confirmed by multiple beat writers.
As word spread, Toney quickly broke his social media silence and claimed there was no truth to the rumors. There was, of course, and his presence at team facilities may not change that. However, the Giants have reportedly placed a significant value on the 2021 first-round pick and although several teams are “high” on Toney, a trade remains unlikely.
If nothing else, at least Toney can now finally get to work on learning Daboll’s offense and catch back up with his teammates after falling behind by more than a month.
Better late than never, as they say.
