ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Though Isaiah Livers suffered an apparent ankle injury in Sunday’s home game against Indiana, he returned later in the game for some time, but was seemingly limited.
The next game, Wednesday at Rutgers, the Wolverines had to give it a go once again without Livers, though he did travel to Piscataway with the team. He didn’t warm up, a surefire sign that, despite making the trek to New Jersey, that he wasn’t going to be able to give it a go, however, it was confirmed that his limitation was precautionary, as he was wearing a walking boot on the injured ankle.
Once again, Michigan takes the show on the road, playing at Purdue on Saturday at 2PM EST, but head coach Juwan Howard isn’t quite sure whether or not Livers will be available. Though he did confirm that, whether or not the junior forward is able to participate against the Boilermakers, that he will still make the trip, in hopes that if he’s limited on Friday, he’ll be better on Saturday.
“I haven’t had a chance to speak with Alex yet — Alex is our head trainer,” Howard said. “After this press conference, then I’ll go downstairs and see so we can plan on how we’re going to move forward with practice, as well as the game tomorrow.”
Michigan didn’t hold a normal practice on Thursday upon returning to Ann Arbor post-Rutgers, Howard noted, but it did participate in some light activity in advance of Friday’s full practice.
As Howard mentions, Livers was there, but he didn’t go into much detail about how involved he was.
“We really didn’t have a practice yesterday,” Howard said. “We had more of a walkthrough-slash-player development day. But he was present.”
