Justin Jefferson makes history with huge performance in Thursday Night Football

Justin Jefferson tied Lance Alworth as the fastest player to reach 5,000 receiving yards in a career.

It was an overall frustrating game for the Minnesota Vikings, who lost on Thursday night to the Philadelphia Eagles to fall to 0-2 on the season.

But former LSU star [autotag]Justin Jefferson[/autotag] shined for the Vikings in the road loss. He caught 11 passes for 159 yards, a final stat line that allowed him to make history.

Jefferson became the fastest player in NFL history to reach 5,000 yards, doing so in just his 52nd game, which tied a mark set by Lance Alworth back in the 1960s.

It’s the second-straight week that Jefferson has reached 150 yards as he had nine catches for that yardage total exactly in a Week 1 loss to Tampa Bay.

Jefferson is the reigning NFL Offensive Player of the Year, coming off a huge year for Minnesota in which he led the league in receptions (128) and yards (1,809). He was also a finalist for the NFL’s MVP award last season.
