If the NHL is looking to draw eyeballs outside of dedicated hockey fans for the All-Star weekend, Canadian superstar Justin Bieber just gave them the perfect opportunity.
A few days ago, the Biebs posted a video on Instagram of him scoring a goal in a local pick-up game. St. Louis Blues goal tender and All-Star pick Jordan Binnington laid down a little wager in the comments.
“10 breakaways me vs. you. You score on me and I’ll dye my hair platinum blond,” Binnington wrote.
Bieber decided to up the stakes, just a little.
“How bout 10 thousand dollars to charity I score and you donate to a charity of my choice and we film it,” he wrote in a separate Instagram post.
Binnington has yet to reply, but this is the perfect set up for a show down at the NHL All-Star Game, hosted by St. Louis, in late January.
Bieber, a lover of hockey, previously played in the 2017 NHL All-Star Celebrity game where he was memorably crushed along the glass by Chris Pronger. He’s also been hanging out with Toronto Maple Leafs players Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner and Tyson Barrie.
This is exactly the kind of star power and weirdness the NHL needs to embrace over All-Star weekend. Set it up! Make it happen! Get Bieber on the ice!
