When the Tampa Bay Buccaneers take the field on Sunday in their Week 17 finale against the Atlanta Falcons, they will be without their top two receivers in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, both of whom have been shut down with hamstring injuries.
Evans went down in Week 14’s win against the Indianapolis Colts, coming up limping following a 61-yard touchdown reception. He finished the year with 67 receptions for 1,157 yards and eight touchdowns. He joined Hall of Famer Randy Moss as the only other receiver in NFL history to begin his career with six-straight 1,000-yard seasons.
The former first round pick by the Buccaneers is already the franchise’s all-time leader in receiving yards at just 26, meaning he has plenty of big years ahead of him if he can stay healthy.
Hopefully, he can have as long a career as his childhood basketball idol Vince Carter, who at 42 years of age is still in the NBA, playing for the Atlanta Hawks in his 22nd season.
Evans recently posted this below image on his Instagram story, featuring him rocking Carter’s old UNC jersey.
Take a look.
For his career, Evans has 462 receptions for 7,260 yards and 48 touchdowns.
