Julio Jones says of Falcons ‘I’m out of there’ and Raiders among odds on favorites to land him

There have been rumblings that the Falcons have exploring trade possibilities involving wide receiver Julio Jones since before the draft. The first report came via NBC’s Peter King who at that time named the Raiders and Patriots as possible destinations.

The seven-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro would be an enticing option for many teams. Until today all we had was the report that the Falcons were fielding calls. Today we heard from Jones himself, who confirmed a parting is imminent.

Undisputed co-host Shannon Sharpe called up Jones live on the show and the 32-year-old receiver said flatly “I’m out of there”, referring to the Falcons, adding that he wants to go somewhere he can win.

Sharpe asked him only if he was going to go to the Dallas Cowboys because there was a picture taken of Jones in a Cowboys jersey. Jones said he is not going to Dallas, so I guess that rules out one team, at least in Jones’s mind. Keep in mind, it would take a trade to get him out of Atlanta, so where he goes may not fully be up to him.

As to which teams could realistically make a play for him, there are odds out there for such things. One set of odds from Fox Bet have the Raiders as the second highest, below only the 49ers.

Tops is a return to Atlanta with a line of -400. After that, the top five go thusly via FOXBet:

49ers +250
Raiders +333
Lions +450
Patriots +550
Colts +650

For what it’s worth, of those top five, only the Colts (11-5) had a winning record last season. The Raiders (8-8) were the only other team of them to not have a losing record.
