Julian Edelman exits with injury in Week 16 vs. Bills

Julian Edelman went down to the turf for an extended period.

New England Patriots receiver Julian Edelman exited the team’s Week 16 matchup against the Buffalo Bills at Gillette Stadium on Saturday.

During the third quarter, he went into the team’s blue medical tent to get evaluated for a head injury before retreating to the locker room.

His exit came after he ran into Bills safety Jordan Poyer on a route. Edelman was flagged for offensive pass interference on the play, and lay on the turf face-down for an extended period of time before rising. He finished the drive, which ended with a field goal attempt. The Patriots didn’t provide an injury designation (questionable, probable, out) for his potential return when they announced his injury.

Edelman’s departure followed injuries to cornerback Jason McCourty and tackle Marcus Cannon.
