The NBA Finals are finally here. The Boston Celtics host the Dallas Mavericks and have taken a 2-0 lead. Former Bruin and Celtics starting point guard Jrue Holiday has been a focal point for the Celtics.
Tasked with guarding the always slippery and elusive Kyrie Irving, Holiday had a one-word answer on how he plans on guarding him: “Pray”
Irving has some of, if not the best handles in the NBA. With an ability to score from anywhere on the court, Holiday will have his hands full in the series. But Holiday is no slouch on defense.
Holiday is a six-time NBA All-Defensive Team player, including a second-team selection this season. The former 17th overall pick in 2009 is a true two-way player, averaging 12.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 4.3 assists while adding one steal per game.

So, while Holiday may be praying for help and support defensively, his track record in the 2024 post-season should be enough to slow Irving in the series.
