Josh Richardson scores 12 points in Mavericks’ loss

Detailing Josh Richardson’s performance against Phoenix.

Josh Richardson made his regular-season debut for his new team Wednesday night.

Richardson, a guard for Dallas, scored 12 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out an assist in the Mavericks’ 106-102 loss to Phoenix at Talking Stick Resort Arena.

He started and logged 36 minutes on the floor for the Mavericks, who return to action Friday for a Christmas showdown with the defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers at Staples Center. He went 5-for-11 from the floor against the Suns.

Richardson was drafted by Miami in the second round of the 2015 NBA draft. He spent last season with the Philadelphia 76ers.

He played for Tennessee from 2011-15 and was an All-Southeastern Conference standout in 2015. The former Vol was also a member of the conference’s All-Defensive Team in 2014 and 2015.
