There is a lot of uncertainty in the NBA following a wild and crazy 2019-20 season that is not yet finished. For the Philadelphia 76ers, there is a lot to accomplish, yet nobody knows where to begin at the moment.
The NBA is still working out the kinks to a 2020 offseason after a season that included a lot of financial hardships involving an incident with China in the preseason and then a global pandemic that hit the world hard in March and forced the league to suspend operations. The league is still trying to pin down dates for the 2020 NBA Draft and the 2020 free agency period.
So when Sixers guard Josh Richardson was asked what his offseason plans are, he really did not know how to answer the question.
“I don’t even know when next season’s going to start to be honest with you,” he said with a laugh. “I’m probably going to relax for a few weeks. Probably going to go put my feet in the sand somewhere. Try to decompress, watch these other teams play. Some of my friends that are still in the playoffs play and hopefully, in a few weeks I’ll be back at it. I don’t usually take too long off.”
Those friends include Bam Adebayo who he formed a friendship with during his time with the Miami Heat. This is now Richardson’s chance to just relax a little bit from a wild first season in Philadelphia where he had to do a bit more than usual.
In terms of the 2020-21 season, there still is a lot to work out such as the season start date and whether teams will play in a bubble again or in their home arenas as the world continues to fight against the pandemic. Until then, Richardson and the Sixers should just relax and try to move on from a tough season on the floor for them. [lawrence-related id=37249,37241,37238]
