Josh Richardson doesn’t care about lack of attention, lineup change

Philadelphia 76ers guard Josh Richardson does not care about the lack of attention he receives or the starting lineup change.

Philadelphia 76ers guard Josh Richardson has been the difference in a lot of games for the Sixers due to his ability to be one of the top defenders on his team while also being so dynamic offensively. However, he does not get a lot of attention on this team.

The Sixers are led by Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid who understandably get the large majority of the attention on the Sixers and then there’s Tobias Harris who is currently the highest-paid player on his team. So, understandably, the 6-foot-5 guard out of Tennessee won’t get a lot of coverage.

“Not really,” Richardson started with. “When you’re on a team with two All-Stars and a borderline All-Star, naturally you’re going to have to take a backseat in the sense of media attention and all that. So I’m OK with that. As long as I’m able to be effective on the court, that’s all that really matters.”

He is also dealing with a new starting lineup change that includes Shake Milton moving into the lineup with Simmons moving over to the 4 and Al Horford coming off the bench. Despite these changes to the lineup, Richardson’s role does not change all that much. He will still be expected to make plays all over the floor on both ends and help the Sixers succeed in this Orlando restart.

Also, when considering that this 2019-20 season has been anything but easy, none of this is going to bother him as much.

“This whole year has been an adjustment period so this starting lineup change, not really that much,” Richardson stated.

In fact, coach Brett Brown wants to see him take on an offensive mindset in Orlando.

“I guess that’s good to hear,” the starting guard added. “I’m sure we’ll have a talk about it at some point so that’s good to hear.”
