Josh Heupel recaps Vols’ win against Vanderbilt

Josh Heupel recaps Tennessee’s win against Vanderbilt.

No. 23 Tennessee (8-4, 4-4 SEC) defeated Vanderbilt (2-10, 0-8 SEC), 48-24, Saturday at Neyland Stadium in Week 13.

Third-year Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel met with media following the regular-season finale.

“Starting off by saying thank you to the men and women that serve our country,” Heupel said. “Today was Salute to Service across the country and everybody in our program is very thankful for the sacrifices that the men and women make, and their families make, to allow us to do what we do.

“Senior day, we’re proud of this group. A lot of them were here when I first got here and chose to stay here through some uncertainty. They bought into our vision of what the program can and would be about. It’s a phenomenal group. It’s a group that, over the last couple of years, won 13 games at home. Thirteen home games, which, over that span, is as good as it’s been since the late nineties. We’ve had some disappointment in the results along the way, but this group, this team, continues to fight and compete extremely hard and prepare the right way. I’m really proud of them. That happens because of the leadership from that senior group.”
