Senior offensive lineman Cooper Mays did not play in the Vols’ first two games during the 2023 season against Virginia and Austin Peay.
Mays underwent an undisclosed medical procedure ahead of the 2023 season.
“He was with us last week, warmed up with us,” Heupel said. “We made a decision pretty early in the week that he probably would not play in that football game. Anticipate him having a good week of practice here and being ready.”
Kickoff between the Vols and Gators on Saturday is slated for 7 p.m. EDT.
ESPN will televise the Southeastern Conference East matchup. Chris Fowler (play-by-play), Kirk Herbstreit (analyst) and Holly Rowe (sideline) will be on the call.
