Josh Heupel looks to close Tennessee’s borders that includes quarterback Ty Simpson

Tennessee Vols’ football recruiting news.

Josh Heupel was introduced as Tennessee’s football head coach Wednesday.

Heupel mentioned that he is making it a priority to close the Volunteer State’s borders and keep local prospects in Tennessee.

One in-state prospect is 2022 4-star quarterback Ty Simpson. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound quarterback is from Westview high School in Martin, Tennessee.

Simpson holds Southeastern Conference offers from all 14 league schools: Alabama, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State, Missouri, South Carolina, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt.

Tennessee initially offered Simpson a scholarship in June 2018 after then-Vols’ head coach Jeremy Pruitt was hired.
