Josh Allen is Bills’ top player on PFF top-101 players list

Josh Allen is the #Bills’ top player on PFF’s top-101 players list from 2021 (in little surprise):

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was his team’s top player to appear on Pro Football Focus‘ list of the NFL’s top-101 players from 2021.

Overall, Allen clocked in at No. 14 on the football analytics outlet’s rankings. After Allen backed up his breakout season a year ago with his efforts this year, it comes as little surprise that he was Buffalo’s top player listed by PFF.

Here’s PPF’s breakdown on Allen:

14. QB JOSH ALLEN, BUFFALO BILLS
2021 Snaps: 1,219 | 2021 PFF Grade: 91.7

If Allen regressed in 2021, it was very small, as the Bills quarterback was still a phenomenal quarterback. Allen was at his best in the postseason, and his rushing ability sets him apart from other passers. Allen led the league in yards per attempt (6.3) — 3.4 of which came after contact. No quarterback in the league has the full breadth of Allen’s skill set, and he has now played to the level of those tools in two consecutive seasons.

PFF 101 Rank, 2020: 13

Of the 13 players ahead of Allen on the list, only two are quarterbacks. And of those QBs, only one is currently slated to play again in 2022.

The top quarterback was Joe Burrow from the Cincinnati Bengals at six. The other was Tom Brady at No. 9, who is now retired.

In addition to Allen, others from Buffalo on the list were receiver Gabriel Davis at No. 93, offensive lineman Dion Dawkins landed at 74, wideout Stefon Diggs took the No. 68 position, and finally, safety Micah Hyde was at No. 58.

It’s certainly promising that the Bills do have five total players on PFF’s list.

However, the best news for the Bills is that Allen’s tragetory indicates that he’ll continue to appear on such rankings for a very long time.
