Josh Allen has shown a penchant from the 2020 NFL season through the present for setting personal, franchise, and league-best marks in his gameplay.
It’s also not been uncommon for the 25-year-old to make NFL history in the process.
In his performance during Sunday’s 38-20 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, he did just that yet again.
The young QB’s end-of-game stats were historic on an individual as well as a league-wide level.
Allen went for a career-high 213 deep passing yards in the contest, showing off the big arm that has caught the eye of many since before his selection by Buffalo in 2018. His 12.1 yards per passing attempt also marked a career-best for the QB.
In that personal-best effort, Allen’s 213 deep yards were the fourth-most in a game by any player in the Next Gen Stat era.
He also averaged 31.3 yards per completion in the first half alone, making him only the 12th player since 1991 with a first-half-average
The Bills also set an NFL record by holding the lead at halftime for their 14th consecutive regular-season contest, per the NBC broadcast.
Allen and the team are on a roll in terms of scoring as well, as their 172 in the first five games of the season is also a Bills franchise record.
So far in 2021, the offense has often leaned on position players viewed as weak links last year, such as TE Dawson Knox, RB’s Zack Moss, and Devin Singletary, as well as on newer additions such as veteran WR Emmanuel Sanders.
With high production weapons such as Stefon Diggs, Cole Beasley, and young second-year talent Gabriel Davis commanding coverage while offering play-making abilities, it will be interesting to see how the offense evolves even further throughout the remainder of the season.
One thing we know for sure, Allen is continuing his record-setting ways going into Monday’s primetime matchup against the Tennesee Titans.
