Jordan Phillips said he never missed a Bills game after leaving

Jordan Phillips’ list of reasons about coming back to the #Bills was a nice touch:

The Buffalo Bills added numerous pieces at the start of free agency. Some of that included a circling of the wagons.

Von Miller is the headline signing of the offseason for the Bills. However, Buffalo also brought back some old faces on the defensive line as Jordan Phillips and Shaq Lawson re-sign.

At the end of last season, Lawson had been released by the New York Jets. From there, he noted he would be open to returning to the Bills via social media so it was less surprising to see him back in Buffalo.

Phillips, 29, was the one that was the head-turning addition.

But in the end with all things considered, Phillips being back actually was not shocking.

Upon re-signing, he revealed via video conference that he did not miss a Bills game since he departed in the 2020 offseason to sign with the Arizona Cardinals in free agency.

“You can ask me anything about a game and I could probably tell you,” Phillips said. “I talked to the guys constantly, stayed in touch. When I left, it was a real close-knit group. First time I really felt part of a football team that’s more of a family.”

Later on, Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott confirmed that. The coach said Phillips told him behind the scenes that he didn’t miss game.

McDermott also admitted having multiple former players wanting to come back to his team is a welcomed feeling.

“When you go back to Jordan and (Shaq) leaving, guys make decisions and there’s other things that come into play. I think it’s really cool that guys want to come back here,” McDermott said via video conference. “They enjoyed being here, they enjoyed the culture here and they enjoyed playing in front of these fans.”

Phillips went on to add the best reason why he came back.

He provided a laundry list of reasons relating to the team’s roster, including quarterback Josh Allen and the addition of Miller.

Phillips ended that sentiment with a question: “Why wouldn’t you want to come back?”
