Jordan Love and Dontayvion Wicks team up for big-time TD to close first half vs. Panthers

Jordan Love and Dontayvion Wicks teamed up for a 21-yard TD pass that put the Packers up 23-10 at half in Carolina.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love and rookie receiver Dontayvion Wicks teamed up for an impressive touchdown to finish off an impressive first half for Matt LaFleur’s offense on Sunday at Bank of America Stadium.

The score came on 3rd-and-8 with 57 seconds left in the first half. Love stepped up to elude pressure, bought time to his right and fired a strike to Wicks, who found the open space in the scramble drill and made the leaping catch for a 21-yard touchdown.

The scoring drive gave the Packers a 23-10 lead over the Panthers to close out the first half.

The Packers scored on their first four possessions: three touchdowns and one field goal. Anders Carlson missed an extra point.

Love completed 12 passes for 134 yards and a touchdown and had a 1-yard touchdown run, while Wicks caught two passes for 29 yards and a score. Tucker Kraft and Bo Melton combined for seven catches and 84 yards. Aaron Jones has a season-high 89 rushing yards, including a 39-yarder that set up a score.

The Packers have 251 total yards and 19 first downs. They’ve converted 5-of-7 third downs and scored touchdowns on both red zone trips.

With a passing touchdown and rushing touchdown, Love is now up to 29 total touchdowns — 26 passing, three rushing — through 14.5 games in 2023.

Wicks caught his first touchdown pass since Week 3 in Atlanta.

A.J. Dillon, who is playing through a broken thumb, opened the scoring with a 1-yard touchdown run to finish off the Packers’ first possession.
