Jonathon Brooks leads all Power Five running backs in missed tackles forced

The sophomore running back has exceeded all expectations and is thriving in Texas’ backfield.

Texas running back Jonathon Brooks is dominant. There is no other way to put it.

Brooks had another spectacular performance in Week 9, racking up 98 yards and one touchdown while averaging 6.1 yards per carry.

With starting quarterback Quinn Ewers being ruled out due to a shoulder injury, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian was expected to feed the running backs. That’s precisely what he did.

Texas had 184 total rushing yards on the day compared to the 170 passing yards that backup quarterback Maalik Murphy tallied.

Brooks has now rushed for 923 yards and seven touchdowns on 144 carries, averaging 6.4 yards per carry this year. He also has forced 58 missed tackles this season, the most among all Power Five running backs.
