Jonathon Brooks eclipses 1,000 yards on the year in Texas’ third straight win

Jonathon Brooks surpassed 1,000 rushing yards for the year in Texas’ 33-30 win over Kansas State.

Texas running back Jonathon Brooks surpassed 1,000 yards for the year in the 33-30 overtime victory over Kansas State last week.

One of the biggest questions surrounding Texas football this offseason was which running back would carry the load with Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson off to the NFL. Brooks answered those questions without a doubt.

The sophomore has tallied 1,035 rushing yards on the season with eight touchdowns, averaging 6.2 yards per carry.

In Week 1 against Rice, freshman running back CJ Baxter was named the starter, but Brooks eventually took over in Week 3. Brooks accumulated 164 rushing yards in Texas’ 31-10 victory against Wyoming.

Since then, Brooks has rushed for 926 yards and seven touchdowns.

He has emerged as one of the top backs in the country, and Texas will need to continue to give him the ball if Quinn Ewers remains out for the Longhorns’ game versus TCU next week.
