The Washington Football Team put together their most complete performance of the season in a 29-19 Week 10 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Quarterback Taylor Heinicke completed 26 of 32 passes for 256 yards and a touchdown, while running back Antonio Gibson dominated Tampa Bay’s defense in the second half, despite just 64 rushing yards. According to Pro Football Focus, to put Gibson’s day in perspective, he was credited with 48 yards after contact and ran for five first downs.
How about Washington’s defense?
They were equally as impressive. The most impressive player was defensive tackle Jonathan Allen, which is nothing new to Washington fans. Allen didn’t put up big numbers, but he dominated the interior of a solid Tampa Bay offensive line.
Per PFF, Allen finished the game with a grade of 80.2. Cornerback Kendall Fuller was right behind Allen, with a grade of 79.1. Fuller did give up one long touchdown to Mike Evans, but he had an otherwise strong performance.
Defensive end Casey Toohill, who saw an increase in snaps with the injuries to Montez Sweat and Chase Young, played 29 snaps and finished with a grade of 78.0 — third on Washington’s defense.
Right tackle Cornelius Lucas was Washington’s top-graded offensive player. In his third start for the injured Sam Cosmi, Lucas finished with a grade of 75.7, with All-Pro guard Brandon Scherff right behind him with a 75.6 grade.
Gibson had a 68.6 grade, with Heinicke right behind him at 68.5.
It was a good day for several Washington players on Sunday.
