It is going to be a rough year for the Colorado Buffaloes football team. Well, at least, that’s what the national media is saying.
The transfer portal stung the Buffs in a big way, and they lost a ton of talent after a four-win campaign in 2021.
Now, they are a common pick to finish last in the Pac-12, as the media suggested. However, we at Buffaloes Wire are a bit more optimistic about Colorado’s 2022 season.
Jon Wilner released his Pac-12 predictions and he has the Buffs as the 12th place finisher with a 3-9 overall record and a 2-7 clip in the conference. Here’s what Wilner wrote:
The Buffaloes could surprise — they did just that in the COVID year — but the talent lost to the transfer portal greatly exceeds the talent gained. Also, the offensive line is a work in progress, and we’re skeptical the quarterback play will support a mid-level finish.
Wilner seems a bit more optimistic than most, and he’s right: The Buffs COULD surprise people, especially if the quarterback play improves.
The offensive line is rejuvenated under new coach Kyle DeVan, although there are a lot of question marks.
The quarterback battle remains up in the air, and both Brendon Lewis and JT Shrout could play a lot this season. You never know what could happen. After all, that’s the beauty of college football.
