At this time last year, Jim Harbaugh was on the hot seat according to many in the media. Now, he’s the AP coach of the year and is set to take his Michigan Wolverines to the College Football Playoff for the first time ever.

Of course, Jim got some help this offseason from his brother John, the head coach of the Baltimore Ravens, as Michigan football got two new coaches who were on the Ravens staff last year. The Wolverine defense took a big step forward with former Baltimore linebackers coach Mike Macdonald at the helm, while the quarterback production was efficient with former Ravens run game coordinator Matt Weiss overlooking that position.

So, on Friday, John Harbaugh expressed his congratulations for his brother while also slamming those who were eager to see Jim ousted from his position after 2020’s 2-4 campaign.

“That’s awesome! I’m just really happy for him,” Harbaugh said. “Congratulations to Jim and the whole staff and the players. To be the coach of the year in college football is a pretty remarkable accomplishment. And to do it the way they did it this year, after being written off by so many, is a very — I don’t know, it’s a good feeling.

“I’m proud of him, I’m happy for him, happy for all of them. He’s always been a great coach. And for all of those who want to pile on, especially some of the local media there, there you have it, back in your face! That’s how I look at it. He’ll never say it, but I’ll say it.”
