The Baltimore Ravens picked up an important win over a quality conference opponent to move to 2-0. But with all the joy and celebration of a big win comes some disappointment. Coach John Harbaugh said he believes cornerback Tavon Young suffered a season-ending knee injury during the game.
This is a big blow to Baltimore’s defense, which only kept five cornerbacks on the 53-man roster following cutdowns. When healthy, Young is one of the best slot cornerbacks in the game and the Ravens trust him quite a bit to handle top wide receivers on the inside without help.
Sadly, this is not the first or even second time Young has suffered a season-ending injury. He’s missed two seasons during his four-year career, and if he heads to injured reserve this season too it’ll be three of five for Young.
But Harbaugh offered some kind words of encouragement for Young as he looks to return from this injury.
“Just a disappointing thing for a guy that we love, we care about, and he’s been through so much already, and we know he’ll tackle this challenge is Tavon Young, who I think he has a season-ending knee injury the way it looks right now. We’re really disappointed about that, but we love him and we’ll be there with him all the way through the next challenge he’s going to have to face.”
