John Elway says Broncos were ‘thrilled’ to land Jerry Jeudy in NFL Draft

Jerry Jeudy was the No. 1 wide receiver on the Broncos’ draft board.

There were rumors leading up to the 2020 NFL Draft that the Denver Broncos might trade up in the first round, perhaps to select Alabama star wide receiver Jerry Jeudy.

Denver opted to stay put at No. 15 and it turned out to be a wise decision because Jeudy ended up falling to them in the middle of the first round.

“Thrilled to be able to select Jerry Jeudy with the 15th overall pick,” Broncos general manager John Elway tweeted on Thursday evening. “He’s an explosive player who was the top WR on our board.

“Jerry’s an excellent route runner who knows how to get open, and he’s from a winning program at Alabama. [We’re] excited to add Jerry to the Broncos!”

Though he was the top receiver on Denver’s board, Jeudy was the second receiver drafted on Thursday. Henry Ruggs, Jeudy’s college teammate, was selected by the Las Vegas Raiders with the 12th overall pick.
