Joel Embiid will play for Sixers in home matchup with Pelicans

Joel Embiid will play for the Philadelphia 76ers in their matchup with the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday at home.

After being listed as questionable with lower back soreness for the Philadelphia 76ers in their matchup with the New Orleans Pelicans, Joel Embiid is set to play in their return home from a four-game road trip.

The big fella had originally suffered the injury in a New Year’s Eve win over the Oklahoma City Thunder, but it looks like he will be fine for this matchup. The Sixers will need the big fella against the Pelicans as they look to battle with Zion Williamson.

“He started feeling it during the Oklahoma game,” coach Doc Rivers revealed. “He told me that.”

With Embiid in the lineup, the Sixers will be able to battle Williamson a bit better. Without him in the game, the Pelicans star barreled through Georges Niang and Montrezl Harrell in New Orleans’ win on Friday during Philadelphia’s road trip.

Tipoff from the Wells Fargo Center is set for 7 p.m. EST.
