Joel Embiid, Sixers discuss their success during current 7-game homestand

Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers discuss the success they’re having on their current 7-game homestand as they move forward.

PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia 76ers are 6-0 on this seven-game homestand after an easy win over the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday. They have begun to turn their play around. They are defending. They are playing with pace. They are playing the style of basketball coach Doc Rivers wants.

The Sixers can look back on this homestand and use the success they have had to truly move forward as a group. This is the type of game that want to play in order to win games and move up in the standings for the future.

“We’re locked in,” said Joel Embiid. “We’re together. We know we got a top two defense in the league. Offensively, I think we finding out ways even when we’re not making shots. I think we’re just coming together and everybody understands their role and what they have to do to help us win and that’s how we’re winning.”

Embiid has been playing excellent basketball on the homestand. He is averaging 34.3 points and shooting 54.9% from the floor and 60% from deep. After so many days and games on the road, it was important to have this homestand.

“It actually feels really good because we were beat up coming off that last road trip we had. It felt like I think it was like 14 days and we had like one stop at home here,” added Georges Niang. “So to get some time at home and really build and get guys back fully healthy and routine practicing, being at home, being in front of these fans, I think it was huge for us, and I think we’re taking full advantage of it.”

Philadelphia has one more contest at home during this stretch, the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday. Led by Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, they will offer a tough test before the Sixers head out on the road for four games.

“We have one more game left and then we go on another road trip, but needless to say we’re playing at a very good pace,” Niang added. “We’re defending, but we have a tough LA Clippers team coming in here.”
