On Sunday evening, the Philadelphia 76ers will put a five-game winning streak on the line when they take the court against the Brooklyn Nets. And they will do so without their franchise big man, Joel Embiid, who has been ruled out with what is being called a “respiratory illness.”
Embiid popped up on the injury report earlier Sunday afternoon, where he had a “doubtful” designation.
With Embiid confirmed as out, it will be interesting to see if Al Horford returns from his recent absence and what the starting lineup will look like without Embiid and possibly Horford. Regardless, it’s likely Mike Scott, Kyle O’Quinn, and Norvel Pelle will see a bump in minutes.
Joel Embiid is out for tonight’s game against the Nets. It gives Brett Brown a decision to make with Al Horford possibly being out. #Sixers

Embiid has played well over the past week after being criticized by Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley on the TNT broadcast.
The Nets enter the game with a 13-12 record. Tip off is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
