Joe Lunardi reveals what UNC has to do to feel ‘safe’ for NCAA Tournament

ESPN Bracketologist Joe Lunardi reveals what the UNC basketball program has to do in the final five games to feel safe.

The North Carolina Tar Heels are on thin ice in terms of their chances to get to the NCAA Tournament after losing four of their last five.

With five games left, every game is a must-win for Hubert Davis team. And if they continue to stumble, they will be the first preseason No. 1 team to miss the NCAA Tournament.

The Tar Heels stretch of five games to close out the season begins on Sunday in Raleigh as they face NC State. Its a tough five game-stretch and as they close it out, ESPN’s Joe Lunardi revealed just what they have to do to feel ‘safe’ to make the tournament.

“Coming down the stretch, five games left, three huge ones, they have to win 4 of 5 to feel safe going into the ACC Tournament,” Lunardi said while appearing on SC with SVP. “If I had to bet a mortgage payment, ideally yours not mine, they are not going to make it.”

This shouldn’t be shocking.

UNC entered last weekend as one of the last four teams in before getting a big win over Clemson. But they are right back where they started after losing to Miami on Monday night.

Winning four of five will be a tough challenge. They have road games at NC State, Notre Dame, and Florida State while hosting Virginia and Duke. The game on Sunday vs. the Wolfpack will be a quad 1 chance but after that, they only have the Virginia game as of now as another opportunity.

Leaving it up to the ACC Tournament could be a disaster.
