Joe Burrow went into the 2023 NFL season as among the favorites to win MVP. His start the season couldn’t have gone much worse.
In the season-opening matchup against the Cleveland Browns, Burrow passed just 82 yards, no touchdowns and completed less than 50 percent of his passes. It was a putrid performance that ultimately led to Burrow and the rest of Bengals’ first-team offense getting pulled in the fourth quarter with the game out of reach.
Off games happen, but for Burrow, he just signed a massive contract to become the highest-paid player in the league. That wasn’t the showing that backs up that contract, and NFL fans were relentless watching Burrow struggle.
