Jimmy Garoppolo was more interested in scoring than burning clock and it cost the 49ers

This cost the Niners.

Thirty-seven seconds could have been 25 or so before Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers offense would have taken the field to attempt a comeback against the San Francisco 49ers.

But, no. For some odd reason, with 43 seconds left in Sunday’s Niners loss to the Pack, Jimmy Garoppolo didn’t let the clock run with Green Bay lacking any timeouts — San Franciso had THREE!– taking the snap and throwing to Kyle Juszczyk for a touchdown.

That left just enough time for Rodgers to get Mason Crosby within range to nail a game-winning kick, so everyone’s wondering: Why take the snap there? Jimmy G. did address it:

I get the rhythm thing … but you have to take a step back and remember it’s Aaron Rodgers. Any extra seconds cancel out staying in a good rhythm offensively.
