Jimmy Butler: Bam Adebayo, not Joel Embiid, is favorite teammate ever

Former Philadelphia 76ers forward Jimmy Butler says Bam Adebayo is his favorite teammate, not Joel Embiid.

The little tidbits that Jimmy Butler has been dropping since leaving the Philadelphia 76ers for the Miami Heat in the offseason have been interesting. He has given vague reasons for why he left the Sixers in the first place and then he has maintained his friendship with Joel Embiid in a big way.

Embiid and Butler have maintained their friendship through social media such as Instagram posts and even Twitter posts that gave the entire city of Philadelphia a heart attack.

However, despite their friendship, does Butler have a new favorite teammate?

According to Ethan Skolnick of Five Reasons Sports, Butler said Heat 2017 draft pick Bam Adebayo is now his favorite teammate. Skolnick wrote:

It’s about the Miami Heat’s first-round pick in 2017, the one they likely wouldn’t have been in position to acquire if they had done the right thing by Dwyane Wade in 2016; the one whom they privately described on draft night as the “anti-Hassan” in comparison to the numbers-before-team big man they had unfortunately re-signed to a max; the one they researched more thoroughly than any previous draft prospect without finding a single red flag; the one many Heat fans didn’t want at the time but was anointed by the Heat’s historical frontcourt royalty as the next to carry the franchise tradition; the one that the fickle, unforgiving Jimmy Butler tells associates is “the best teammate I’ve ever had.”

This does not mean that Butler said Adebayo is better than Embiid, but it is interesting to hear these things. Especially when considering how tight Embiid and Butler are, you’d figure that Embiid would be his favorite.

Alas, life moves on with the Sixers returning home on Wednesday after a 1-3 road trip. [lawrence-related id=27413,27392,27377]
