Former Wisconsin defensive coordinator and interim head coach Jim Leonhard will not be moving forward in the Eagles’ defensive coordinator search.
The decision was a mutual one between him and the team. According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, Leonhard’s original plan had been to sit out of coaching this season to undergo hip surgery. When the job opened, Leonhard immediately showed interest in the reigning NFC champions.
Due to the hip surgery and other factors, the two parties ultimately decided not to move forward with his candidacy. Be on the lookout next offseason as Leonhard will almost certainly land somewhere at the collegiate or professional level.
