Andy Dalton’s return to the lineup

After spending the last three weeks on the sideline, Andy Dalton will return to the field on Sunday against the Jets.

Unlike Darryl Roberts, Dalton’s absence was not caused by an injury. He was benched in favor of rookie Ryan Finley, who struggled mightily in his brief tenure as Cincinnatti’s starting quarterback. All this means for the Jets is they’ll have to gameplan for a veteran quarterback as opposed to a neophyte.

At 0-11, the Bengals don’t have much to lose by inserting Dalton back under center. His days with the organization are numbered and Cincinnatti is all but certain to draft a quarterback high in 2020. It’s only right that he ends his tenure with the team that drafted him on the field instead of planted on the bench.
